Bio

Trapeze artist, dancer, choreographer
Franco-Spanish artist born in 1979 in Caracas (Venezuela)
Working and living in Brussels since 2008.

Since the founding of her own company in 2016, Elodie Doñaque has been leading a movement research breaking down the barriers between artistic disciplines, and most notably fosters a possible dialogue between circus, dance and live music.

Her work develops minimalist and intuitive aesthetics, based on the poetry of situations, images and gesture.

Her formal research stems from the body and movement, and inscribes itself in the aerial space like a weaving of rhythm, musicality, space and objects. She composes with the ephemeral, creating abstract paintings made of body movements and sound.

Elodie trained at the Centre des arts du cirque le Lido, at the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique de Toulouse and the School for New Dance Development /SNDO in Amsterdam.

She has worked with the following companies: le Cirque Bidon, Les Oiseaux Fous, La Rital Brocante, le Cardage cirque chorégraphique, le Collectif en Transit, as well as alongside choreographers Stefan Dreher, Horacio Macuacua, Hugo Dehaes and singer N’faly Kouyaté.
She currently develops her artistic work alongside musicians Eric Bribosia and Fabian Fiorini, and collaborates with visual artists Fred Chemama and Sophie Saporosi.
